I was fortunate enough to have attended the International Baking Industry Exposition a couple of days ago. IBIE is North America’s largest, most comprehensive trade event. It’s held every three years at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It attracts more than 20,000 baking professionals from every segment of the grain-based market from all around the world. I am already counting down the days until the next event in 2016!!
{RECAP} OKLAHOMA STATE SUGAR ART SHOW 2013
This is going to be a L-O-N-G post. I’m going to share with you my ups and downs of my showpiece for the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show. From the beginning to the end!
MARSHMALLOW ROSES WEDDING CAKE
I love this cake so much that it took me almost two months to show it off to the world. I made it during my demo class at Cake Camp 2013 (read full recap here). I wanted to find the perfect backdrop and time to photograph it.
At last, here is my Marshmallow Roses Wedding Cake!!
{RECAP} MY ICES 2013 ADVENTURES IN LEXINGTON, KY
It all started with a sketch over a year ago…..
After many months of discussing and planning, KRAFT Jet-Puffed and The Marshmallow Studio would be at the International Cake Exploration Societe (ICES) convention being held in Lexington, Kentucky. It would be my first time at ICES and my first time representing JET-PUFFED at a trade event. As you can imagine, I was excited!!!
{RECAP} CAKE CAMP 2013
Two years ago we scrapped up our saving and headed to Las Vegas to try our luck at Cake Camp. Fast forward two years and here we were again except this time we lived in Las Vegas and I was teaching too. I cannot believe how fast time had flown by and how much we have accomplished as a business, a family and a sugar artist in this time.
THE PARTY WITH AMY LOCURTO
A few weeks ago, you guys might remember me talking about a super cool secret project I was making pops for. I shared a few sneak peek photos on my Instagram profile. Then a couple of weeks ago I was able to share what the big mystery was all about and who and what they were for.
I had made marshmallow flowers and butterflies to match Amy Locurto’s new Rainbow Party Collection from her new line with Pebbles, Inc. She was having a booth at the 2013 Craft and Hobby Association Winter Tradeshow and wanted to display them in her booth along her beautiful new bright paper goods. Of course I was honored she asked me and jumped right into this opportunity. It’s not everyday someone you totally admire asks you for something.
Here are a few screen shots I saved from other’s posts:
I am thrilled to announce that the items are being shipped and distributed as I type and they should be available at a store near you very soon. Meanwhile, you can shop online:
You can read how Amy made the display for our Rainbow Butterfly Marshmallow Pops above here!
SAN DIEGO CAKE CLUB 29TH ANNUAL CAKE SHOW
What an experience….
Although I am not a cake decorator, I am a sugar artist so I believe it’s very important to participate in local cake clubs and network with my fellow artists. As you may already know from my previous posts, we are members of the California Cake Club (3 Cs) and the San Diego Cake Club (SDCC). Every year for the past 29 years, the SDCC has puts together a Cake Show Competition to benefit a charity and allow local artists to showcase their talents. This is the largest show of it’s kind in California.
